HUMANE SERVICES CLINIC Renovations Underway
|
After a prolonged search for a building contractor, the Loving Hearts Animal Society's Board of Directors finally received and approved a bid from Arrowhead Handy Services and Construction, LLC. in order to begin the proposed renovations of the building that will serve as the future site of our Humane Services Spay and Neuter Clinic.
Due to cost considerations, the renovations of the clinic building will be completed in two stages. Phase I will consist of constructing the framing for all existing and additional interior walls as needed, as well as sealing and adding a protective finish to the exposed cement floor throughout the building. The budget for the first phase was approved and work began on December 4, 2023.
Phase II will consist of installing drywall, interior painting, and performing additional electrical and plumbing work. The budget for the second stage of renovations was approved and began late January.
Upon completion of the renovations, the space will be transformed into a functional clinic environment consisting of an entry office/reception area, two separate animal holding/recovery rooms, a pre-op prep and exam area, and a surgery room. The final step will then be to acquire all of the necessary furnishing and medical equipment to begin providing services. A detailed diagram of the planned renovations and equipment needs can be viewed in our Fundraising Goals Call to Action.
We are very excited to share this news with you and can't wait for the clinic to be completed. Be sure to check your email and our social media pages for periodic updates on our fundraising progress and an announcement when a date has been set to launch our available clinic programs and services.

Dear Friends and Supporters:
I would like to apologize for the delay in sending out our newsletter this year. Generally, we will strive to give our annual update shortly after the New Year but time got away from us these past few months.
It's hard to believe that an entire year has gone by, seems like only yesterday we began this crazy journey together. I say together because without your assistance and continued support over the past year, I can honestly say we would have had many more failures than successes.
Obviously, to accomplish the goals we have set for ourselves is truly a monumental task, but we are slowly chipping away at them. Our home-based rescue shelter has undergone several transformations and we now have an indoor cat room capable of housing up to 20 healthy felines with an adjoining storage area and enclosed play room, as well as a separate room for intake quarantine and isolation. We have also acquired a portable building kit that upon construction will enable us to further expand and more than double our capacity upon completion.
We have made steady progress, albeit a little slower than we would have liked due to a few speed bumps. Our biggest hurdle has been medical costs due primarily to an unforeseen outbreak of ringworm in the shelter and a couple medical emergencies we chose to take on, which fortunately we were able to weather with the only casualty being that of our budget. We also ran into difficulty finding a building contractor who would work within our budget to renovate the site of our future spay and neuter clinic.
Luckily, we had the support of the Rayburn Ladies Auxiliary, Jasper Farmers Market, Maroon Ridge Event Venue, and Mr. Danny O'Flaherty who held fundraisers that have helped us tremendously to stay on track. We still have a long road ahead and will need the continued support of local area residents and business leaders, but we are confident that together we can achieve our mission to save lives and decrease the number of homeless animals in our community.
After wrapping up our end of year tasks and catching our breath, we are looking forward to taking some very important next steps. We will be completing Phase II of the clinic renovations by mid-April, as well as launching fundraisers to equip our spay and neuter facility, and of course taking in more fur babies and finding them homes.
It's going to be a busy year and I would like to personally thank everyone who continues to support our efforts. Whether you choose to volunteer your time, make a monetary donation, gift food and supplies from our Wish Lists, or support us as your preferred charity through the Walmart.com Spark Good Round Up Program - we truly appreciate your contribution to the success of our mission.
I hope that this New Year brings happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health to you and your loved ones.
With Warm Regards,
|

HOW TO DONATE
Gifts of Cash
The easiest and most direct way to support Loving Heart’s is a gift of cash. Please contact Josie Weintrob at (409) 224-3733 to claim a sponsorship and make payment arrangements.
Recurring Donation
Recognizing that many caring supporters may not have the capacity to make a sizable gift at one time, a smaller gift on a monthly basis would be acceptable to co-sponsor an opportunity.
Matching Gifts
Many corporate employers will match their employees’ gift to a 501(c)(3) non-profit. If your company has such a program, please request their matching gift form and send the completed form to us.
Services or Items
If you have a professional service or product you wish to donate, please let us know. Services such as landscaping, artwork, veterinary equipment or other supplies will all be considered.

Upon their closure, the Jasper Humane Society donated the property and buildings located at 220 Second Street to Loving Hearts Animal Society, which our organization has been renovating over the past several months to serve as a community spay and neuter facility.
The Loving Hearts Humane Services Clinic will provide spay and neutering services to the public at low or no cost on a sliding income scale basis to prevent unwanted pet pregnancies, and in addition we are negotiating with other animal welfare agencies and municipalities to provide support for the development of local trap and release programs.
The timeline for completion of renovations is expected within the next six months, at which time to begin clinic services we will need supplies, basic furnishing, and at minimum the most vital medical equipment.
We are inviting donors to make a more meaningful contribution towards achieving the creation of a much needed resource for our community by sponsoring a naming opportunity.
Sponsoring an actual room or space in the Loving Hearts Humane Services Spay and Neuter Clinic can serve as an enduring legacy of our supporter’s generosity and commitment to the success of our mission. Each sponsored space will be recognized with a custom engraved metallic plaque with the donor's (or honoree/in memoriam) name and date of sponsorship displayed prominently in or near the sponsored area and/or on our facility donor wall in the client lobby. Naming sponsors will also be invited to the clinic's grand opening party where their gift will be recognized and honored as instrumental in our fight against animal homelessness in East and Southeast Texas.

SUPPORT OUR UNDERDOGS
Loving Hearts Animal Society has partnered with the Jasper Animal Shelter and Buffalo Underdogs Rescue as a foster provider for dogs at risk to be euthanized while they await transport to New York.
Buffalo Underdogs is an all-breed, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that saves dogs from kill shelters in Western New York as well as from the City of Jasper Animal Shelter in East Texas.
Buffalo Underdogs Rescue covers the cost of all medical care for our Texas Underdogs awaiting transport and arranges safe passage of over 1400 miles for them to be placed into a welcoming home environment where they begin training and socialization to prepare them to become members of a loving family.
Please support the great work of our rescue partner by purchasing a "Jasper to Buffalo" t-shirt. All proceeds will help more Underdogs make the journey to their happily ever after.
