ANIMAL WELFARE PARTNER Plays Santa Paws

In December, upon sadly deciding to permanently close, the president of the Jasper Humane Society, Donna Armstrong, reached out to Loving Hearts Animal Society to ask that we continue their work by presenting us with a check in the amount of $13,000 and the deed to their building and property.

What a wonderful holiday gift! This is by far the largest contribution we have received to date. Needless to say, this very generous donation has lifted our spirits and provided us with an unexpected opportunity to further assist the underserved communities in Southeast Texas.

The funds we received from the Jasper Humane Society will be used to renovate and equip our newly acquired building to serve as the future site of the Loving Hearts Humane Services Clinic.

The Loving Hearts Humane Services Clinic will have on-site medical facilities staffed by our own licensed veterinarian to provide low-cost altering and rabies vaccination services, which will enable our organization to reduce costs normally associated with a traditional spay and neuter program so that we can pass on those savings to the communities we serve.

We are very excited to share this news with you and can't wait to begin renovations.  Be sure to check your email and our social media pages for periodic updates on our progress and an announcement when a date has been set to launch our available clinic programs and services.

Dear Friends and Supporters:

So much has happened this past year, I hardly know where to begin. I would never have imagined in only five short months that Loving Hearts Animal Society would be anything more than a name on a piece of paper.

Obviously we are still in the very early stages of being able to claim any long lasting success, but we are feeling more confident each day as the communities we were formed to serve rally behind us. Your show of support is a testament of the love we all share for the pets in our lives and the  compassion we have for those that need to be saved.

As you all know, we have set our goals high and it will take considerable time to accomplish them. However, I think we are off to a very good start. We will soon finish the expansion of our current home-based rescue to include the addition of an indoor kitten and puppy nursery, several all-weather catio enclosures, and a dog shed with runs to accommodate more of our canine friends. These additions and renovations have unfortunately taken more time than we would have liked due to the weather and limitations set by our board members' budgets to personally fund them, but in the end we know that it will be money and time well spent.

We have also been busy learning the ropes from our new animal welfare partners and board advisory council members who have been very generous with their time, patience, and expertise. Who knew there was so much more to running a rescue than scooping them up off the street for a hot meal? Don't worry we are fast learners.

After catching our breath from the holidays, we are looking forward to another exciting year as we take our next steps. We will be continuing our capital campaign efforts to acquire our permanent shelter property, beginning renovations of our future spay and neuter clinic facility, and of course taking in more fur babies and finding them homes.

It's going to be a busy year and I would like to personally thank everyone who continues to support our efforts. Whether you choose to volunteer your time, make a monetary donation, gift food and supplies, or support us as your charity on AmazonSmile - we truly appreciate your contribution to the success of our mission.

I hope that this New Year brings happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health to you and your loved ones.

With Warm Regards,

                                                  President

                                                  Loving Hearts Animal Society

The number of homeless animals entering shelters throughout the country increased dramatically when the pandemic began and again when the world went back to work once the lockdowns ended. Unfortunately it's not uncommon for most animal shelters to remain continuously overcrowded even in the best of times.

For this reason many rescue organizations began taking in transfers from overburdened municipal shelters, especially from kill facilities where large breeds and senior animals are unfortunately the first candidates on the list to be euthanized.

Our "Ace" of Hearts was one of many such friendly pups that we found packed into a crowded animal control services shelter where he was waiting for his name to be added to "the list".

Ace is a mixed breed Boxer, as you can maybe tell from his facial features, and from his muscle mass and body structure we believe he is perhaps part English Mastiff.  He is very a big boy, already weighing an impressive 80 pounds at just 3 years old.

While his size might be intimidating, Ace sports a happy goofy grin most of the time that fairly represents his friendly good nature, and he is extremely inquisitive  and intelligent.

Ace enjoys a good game of toss and pounce with his favorite toys, and will sit on command and patiently wait to be given his meals.

He is playfully social towards other dogs as long as they do not display any aggression towards him or his handler, and he is curiously friendly with cats but does like a harmless good chase.

Ace is looking for a forever family that would enjoy taking him for rides in the car,  exploring the great outdoors, or has a nice size yard for a good bit of fun.

Anyone interested in meeting and adopting Ace, please call (409) 224-3733.
